Wire Drawing / Clad Materials
Wire and Tube Drawing, Strip and Profile Rolling
We specialize in drawing Platinum and Platinum alloys and offer a wide range of precious and refractory metals and other specialty alloys. Our fine wire drawings can be as small as 0.0004” (10 µm) diameter. Tubes may have a wall thickness of only 0.0004” (10 µm), too.
Must your wire profile always be round? The answer is no. In fact, many applications benefit from flattened, oval, or tapered ribbon profiles. This allows you to design smaller, more flexible devices. With our strip and profile rolling, we can provide maximum flexibility in designing the best shape for different applications.
In addition, we draw a wide variety of specialty metals and alloys. In order to control tight diameter tolerances or special mechanical requirements, we redraw NiTi and stainless steel alloys. Niobium, Tantalum and their alloys are typical Heraeus materials as well.
Clad Materials
If there is not just one material or alloy that fulfils your requirements, we are able to offer wires, tubes, and profiles from clad materials. For example, we can place a metal of high electrical conductivity into the core with a shell of another alloy, which produces the required mechanical strength. Furthermore, this can be coated or clad with a precious metal for optimum biocompatibility, improved electrochemical resistance, or to create a diffusion barrier.
